Since time immemorial those who claim to have written our history did so to their own advantage and to propagate their plans of cultural imperialism which had no other objectives than to divide and rule. For before colonialism there was just one and indivisible Cameroon occupied by Cameroonians who believed in one principle which they still hold strong today the principle of being ones brother keeper. For the problem of one was the preoccupation of the other. But today it is not what is happening as capitalism has transformed and brain washed our society to the extent that we no longer believe in the principle of all for one and one for all.
The question we do not often ask ourselves is what happened to our unity in diversity which used to be our boasting? For if I could remember far back in the 60s and 70sin front of every house there was a calabash pot filled with clean drinking water for any pedestrian to quench their taste. While others used to hang a bunch of ripe banana in front of the house for anyone who was hungry to harvest from the bunch and eat. No it is not the same today as we now think only of selfish gains like how we can use our brother to make wealth.
In our schools today you cannot correct any child, for if you do the parents will carry you to court. But it was not like this yesterday for the child was considered as the child of the society and not of the parents alone.
What we fail to understand is that as you make your bed so shall you lie on it. For globalisation has affected them negatively as it has made a lot of them to denounce their fatherland by thinking that since the world has been reduced into a global village, anywhere can be home. So they fine no reason to be attached to their fatherland. But there is an African proverb which says, home is home.
For like Mohammad Ghandi said and I quote I do not want my house to be walled in, on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the culture of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refused to be blown off my feet by any. Meaning not all that glitters is gold, so we should avoid copy and paste culture without verifying its content.
As for the bad grains we need to weed them out, so as to allow those patriotic and die hearted citizens like the President of the Republic to continue with the vision of reinforcing unity in its diversity.
For if we really want to see Cameroon emerged come 2035 we need to rally behind the vision bearer of the state, as well as the defence forces and security forces to kick out the enemies of the state who are trying to create instability in the North West and South West Regions. For a vision is given to a man but accompanied by a people.
This phenomenon has not only eaten the economy in this two regions but the entire countries economy by drastically reducing the gross domestic income of the country.
